    Using Sealants on Concrete Walls

    By admin | October 22, 2009

Waterproofing, Wall Care, Home Construction, Home ImprovementSealants are highly used these days to waterproof your walls and ground surfaces. They are extensively used in the basement to prevent water from entering the house.

Sealants come in various forms. There are spray sealants, epoxy and polyurethane. But none of them are as effective as the chemical sealants. In order to ensure that your walls are 100% waterproof, it is essential that the chemical sealant penetrates every corner of the wall. If you are not able to achieve this, it is best that you apply the sealants on the outside of the basement. This will ensure that the water and moisture does enter the basement at all.

You can even apply chemical sealants on the interior of the basement. This will obstruct the moisture and the water vapor to enter the house. You cannot rely on this to protect you from floods. You have to account the fact that sealants cannot stop cracks from happening. In that case, chemical sealants will be ineffective.
