Tips on How to Paint Kitchen Cabinets

    By cooldude | August 18, 2010

Instead of getting professionals to paint your kitchen cabinet, you can save money by doing it yourself. First of all decide what kind of paint and which color you want to use. You might test by painting a part of the surface. Detach all doors, knobs, drawers, handles, hinges, latches etc. Paints generally spill, so get lots of newspaper to cover the area which you do not want to get painted and also the floor.

Kitchens cabinets being continuously exposed to grease and oil need to be cleaned first. Use a degreasing solution to get off the accumulated dirt. Once you have done that apply a coat of sealer on the cabinet. This is will ensure more durability of the paints. Now you are ready to paint. For painting purpose you can use rollers, sprayers or brushes. While painting, either use right to left strokes or up to down strokes. Never use both together. Ideally use three coats of paint. Make sure after applying each coat whether you have missed a spot. Make sure before applying a coat the previous spot is absolutely dry.
